I've been trying to teach Z to speak in hopes of allaying some of her (OK, our) frustrations. She already says some words, like "dog" "wee!" "yay" etc. but just this week we've tackled "more" (so cute, she pinches her fingers together and bumps her hands while saying "ma ma" -- but she gets it) and "all done." She's used them pretty correctly (finished eating = "a-daaa!") but sometimes she thinks "more" just means "I want that" and it's so hard to say no to this little being who walks and pinches her fingers together saying "ma ma!" so earnestly. I'm a pushover. A wuss.
But a minute ago, having just awoken from a waaaaaaay too-short nap, I heard her say over the monitor "a-da? A-da! A-da!" which only her mother could understand means: "I'm all done with this nap so get me out of here (please)!" And now she's saying "hello? hello?" over and over. Hilarious.
But does that mean nap time is really over?
OH -- and ps, funny that her "more" sounds just like "mama" when really, she only calls me Amy. (And since I laugh every time she says it, I've sadly reinforced that habit, even though I subsequently insist that I am to be called Mommy every time. Means nothing.)
She calls you Amy? That's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteSO cute! It just amazes me to see the personalities grow of these tiny people.
